Exciting experiments – curiosity meets practice!

Sometimes it’s not enough to just read about something or talk about it – you have to try it yourself! On Vanreise, it’s all about adventure, tech, and camping, but also about unusual experiments. I test what really works, which methods are practical for everyday life, and where the myth is bigger than the reality.

Already tested: Can you use tuna as a stove? 🐟🔥

A can of tuna in oil as an emergency stove? Sounds crazy, but it’s said to actually work! I gave it a try and tested whether you can really cook on it, how long the flame lasts, and if the tuna is still edible afterward. You’ll find the full experiment in my video!

Upcoming experiments – Here’s what’s coming soon!

🔥 Starting a fire with a hot air gun – Everyone knows the problem: damp wood, wind, and no patience for messing around with firesteel or tinder. But what happens if you use a hot air gun instead? Will it actually get the fire going quickly, or is it just a waste of energy? I’m going to find out!

🌿 What burns better – birch bark or cotton? – In survival circles, many swear by birch bark as a natural tinder. Others prefer Vaseline-soaked cotton pads. But which one ignites faster? Which burns longer? And which method is the better choice for the outdoors? This showdown is coming soon as an experiment!

Even more exciting tests are in the works!

I love putting things to the test and finding out which methods are truly useful – whether for outdoor adventures, survival situations, or just for fun. Got an idea for what I should test next? Then send me your suggestions!
